Center for Teaching Excellence

Summer 2018

ABOUT CTE

The Center for Teaching Excellence at Texas A&M University supports the University's commitment to excellence in teaching and learning. The Center offers a wide range of consultation and support services to faculty, programs, departments and colleges. The Center has cultivated many collaborative relationships across campus to help provide interdisciplinary professional development opportunities for faculty, staff, post-doctoral fellows, and graduate students.

ACHIEVEMENTS

Over the course of my internship I was tasked with working on the annual Teaching Assistant Institute (TAI). For TAI, I held the title of lead event planner meaning I planned every detail with little guidance from Sherri MacWillie. For this event, I planned a timeline, agenda, arranged volunteers and colleagues, room reservations, food coordination, marketing and communication.

Planning the Teaching Assistant Institute helped to give me a strong insight to the corporate event industry. One of the biggest things I learned was how to prepare and approach a multi-day corporate event with a large budget. I received an understanding of what it is like to work with others in a professional setting and how to properly communicate in an office setting.
