At the Recreation, Park and Tourism Sciences Scholarship Banquet, I helped with a variety of different tasks. My primary role was checking guests in at Registration. However, I also helped with the beverage station and helped to decorate and coordinate the room before guests arrived. 

I learned that it is important for everyone who is putting on the event to understand what needs to be done. At this event, there seemed to be only 1 or 2 planners who knew what the volunteers should be doing and how to use their time wisely. 

The purpose of this event is to honor the RPTS undergraduate and graduate students for their academic achievement.
